Hi, I’m Alison Crouch!

I've always known that I was born with my feet "turned in", but only recently have I put together that I was actually born with club feet!

Despite the fact that I knew I had casts on my feet and lower legs as an infant and orthopedic boots with a bar between them until I was about 4, I never put those pieces together.

My husband thinks this is hilarious, since he always figured that's what it meant, and he's not a movement teacher. And if I had a client present with that information I would totally follow a path to club feet, but not with my own history.

Fascinating....

ANYWAY, it has given me a whole new batch of information to understand my own movement patterns, and made me even more dedicated to doing my foot and hip work. As an added bonus, it helps my knees to track well, since it's all connected!

Alison has been teaching Pilates and movement for almost 20 years. A dedicated Pilates instructor with an eye for detail, she enhanced her skills and understanding of bio mechanics and functional alignment during her certification as a Restorative Exercise Specialist with Katy Bowman and the Nutritious Movement Institute.

Alison is fascinated by how bodies work and has taken part in two fascial dissections with Tom Myers of Anatomy Trains. Her experiences have added nuance and detail to her understanding of how truly it's all connected!

What if I have had hip surgery or been told not to do external hip work?

I explain alternative exercises to do in the hip series videos if you’ve been told to avoid external hip exercises. Always listen to your body and stay in ranges that feel strong and productive. The discomfort of building new movement patterns is useful. Pain is a sign to stop, especially as I'm not there with you in person.
